Solar panels fitted properly, by Bristol roofers.

Rooftop solar is a roofing job. Mount flashings, waterproofing, structural fixings, routing cables. We fit solar as part of a new roof, or as a stand-alone install on your existing tiles.

Why your roofer should fit the panels

Watertight, structural, and future-proofed.

A solar panel install is only as good as the roof it sits on. Done by a general installer, panels are often screwed through tiles without proper flashings or lead work, risking leaks years later.

At Albion we fit solar as part of our roofing craft. Lead-dressed hook brackets, properly sealed penetrations, breathable underlay allowed to breathe. Cables routed cleanly, inverter sited sensibly. If the roof ever needs re-tiling we can lift the panels, work underneath and refit them.

Most of our solar jobs land as part of a full re-roof, where it costs very little extra to get the structural fixings right from the start.

What we deliver on a solar install.

  • Site survey including roof pitch, orientation, shading and condition
  • Structural check so the roof can carry the load
  • Rails and brackets mechanically fixed into rafters, not tiles
  • Lead-dressed flashings around every mount for a watertight seal
  • MCS-certified panels and inverter
  • Cable runs routed cleanly to the inverter, no visible mess
  • Grid connection and DNO notification handled on your behalf
  • 10-year workmanship guarantee on the roofing side
  • Panels liftable for any future roof repair without starting over
Common questions

Solar panel installation FAQs.

Can I have solar fitted on my existing roof?
Yes, in most cases. We survey the roof condition first. If the roof has less than ~10 years left, we would usually recommend reroofing first so the panels sit on something that will outlast them.
Do you handle the paperwork?
Yes. MCS certification, DNO notification to your electricity network operator, Building Control if structurally required, and the paperwork you need for Smart Export Guarantee payments.
How long does a typical install take?
A standard domestic install (8–12 panels) is one to two days on the roof, plus a half day for the electrical connection inside.
What about the warranty?
Panels and inverter are covered by the manufacturer (typically 25 years on panels, 10 on inverter). The roofing-side workmanship is covered by our 10-year CORC insurance-backed guarantee.
What if I need the roof repaired later?
Because the panels are properly mounted on rails, we can lift them, work on the roof underneath and refit them. Common on jobs where moss removal or ridge repair is needed down the line.
